Also ich heiße Jasmine. Ich bin 25 Jahre alt und komme vom Bodensee. Das ist im Süden von Deutschland in der Nähe von München und bin seit 4 Monaten hier in London. Mir gefällt es sehr gut, es ist sehr groß im Vergleich zu dem Ort wo ich herkomme. Es ist nur sehr unterschiedlich zu Deutschland.

So my name is Jasmine. I’m 25 years old and I come from Bodensee. It’s in the south of Germany, near Munich and I’ve been here in London. I like it here very much. It’s a much bigger city compared to where I come from. It’s just very different from Germany.

Ich empfinde es als sehr schnelllebig hier. Die Leute sprechen, wenn man sich auf der Straße begegnet, nicht miteinander, oder auf dem Bus hat jeder seine Kopfhörer drin, das ist ein sehr großes Thema, glaub ich, hier. Ich finde die Straßen sehr dreckig und die Ordnung oder ja die Arbeitsmoral, wo ich habe schon festgestellt ist auch anders wie in Deutschland.

I find it to be very fast-moving here. When people meet on the street, they don’t talk to each other, or in the Bus everyone has their headphones on, I think it’s a big thing here (“a big topic” <- i.e. sth very common, sth very popular). I think that the streets are very dirty. The order or the work ethic are also different than in Germany.

Also ich glaub, dass es gar nichts Besonderes ist, weil man das Gefühl hat man ist eigentlich fast nur von, sage jetzt mal blöd, Ausländern umgeben. Also ich bin hier auch ein Ausländer, aber es sind alle Nationalitäten vertreten, man hat das Gefühl, auf einem Fleck. Das ist auch schön zu sehen, dass auch alle miteinander befreundet sind. Also man sieht ne Gruppe, sag ich mal, von einem Schwarzen… mit einem Schwarzen, mit nem Chinesen und mit nem Deutschen oder mit nem Türken – es ist gar kein Problem hier.

So I think that it’s nothing special, cause you feel like you are actually surrounded almost only by… I know it will sound stupid…  foreigners. I mean, I’m also a foreigner here, but you have a feeling that all nationalities are represented on one spot. It’s also nice to see that everyone is friends with each other. So you see a group, say, of a black.. with a black, with a Chinese and with a German oder with a Turk – it’s not at all a problem here. Yeah yeah yeah

Und man sieht auch nicht so viel leid, find ich, wie hier. Also, es ist auch ein großer Unterschied, die Leute, die auf der Straße leben hier oder auch nach Geld betteln oder so. Das sehe ich, wo ich herkomme, gar nicht. Bei uns lebt keiner auf der Straße.
ja.. ansonsten macht das Leben hier auf jeden Fall sehr viel Spaß. Es ist sehr aufregend, da ist es in Deutschland nicht so, muss ich sagen, da ist halt alles… Es ist alles geregelt, es ist alles strukturiert und es ist hier eigentlich nicht der Fall, ja. Aber ich würde auf jeden Fall wieder zurückkommen zum Urlaub machen.

And you don’t see as much suffering as you see here, I think. I mean, it’s also a big difference. People who live on the street here or people that beg for money etc. – I don’t see this at all where I come from. There – in Germany – nobody lives on the street. Yeah.. apart from that, life here is surely is much fun. It’s very exciting. It’s not like that in Germany, I must say. It’s like everything there is… everything is regulated, everything is structured. It’s not the case here. Yeah.. But I surely would come back here on holiday again.

Also ich habe das Gefühl, dass der Brexit in Deutschland mehr populär ist wie hier. Ich hab das Gefühl, dass hier gar niemand darüber redet. Also ich hab mich mit so vielen Leuten unterhalten und das Thema wurde nie auf den Tisch gelegt und in Deutschland ist es eigentlich schon relativ im Fernseher, im Radio, in der Zeitung liest man relativ viel drüber. Und ich hab eh das Gefühl, dass es da momentan mehr zu Sprache kommt wie hier.

So, I feel like Brexit in Germany is more popular than here. I feel like nobody’s talking about it here. I mean, I spoke to many people and the topic never came up. In Germany it’s actually relatively.. in TV in radio… you read about it relatively much in newspaper. And I feel like currently people there talk about it more.

Weil.. ja.. weil ich es schade finde, also ich denk, wenn man sich entschließt doch eine Union zu bilden und zusammen zu stehen, finde ich schade, wenn man quasi, wie du das sagst.. man tritt zurück.

‘Cause.. yeah… ’cause I think it’s a pity.. I mean, I think, when you decide to build a union, after all, and to stand together. I think it’s a pity when you… like.. how do you say it… you back out.
