We interviewed six Austrians and South Germans that are currently residing in London. We interviewed them about their attitudes towards the Danube, their experiences with the river, their viewed on its importance and preservation and how Danubian they feel. We also asked them, in relation to their origin, how they identify themselves. We wanted to explore the relationship between local and global in further detail and investigate whether their roots and their current location in London, one of the world’s great global cities, affected how they perceived themselves. The results are enlightening.
