Bulgaria in London

“It’s not the same. You have to visit Bulgaria!” was what the shop owner of The Food Market Teodora said when we told him we were learning about Bulgarian culture. The next best thing to visiting the country, that we could do in four hours and within a five mile radius of campus, was to visit the Bulgarian embassy and the adjoining Bulgarian orthodox church St. Ivan Rilski in South Kensington and take a trip to a Bulgarian shop and café in West Hampstead. For a few hours, we were Bulgarian Londoners.
